HURRICANE SWIM CLUB
The Hurricane Swim Club (HSC) is a year-round swim
program. The season runs from September through July of each year.
The motto of HSC is Be the Best You Can Be. Coach Ed Kelly strives
to develop character, discipline and skills that challenge each swimmer to excel
both in and out of the pool.
Swimming year-round requires a commitment on the part
of the swimmer and the parent. The swimmer must be prepared to attend
practices throughout the swim season. The practice schedule is as follows:

Blue Group
–
This group is usually
comprised of 8-and-under swimmers. Some new 9 and 10 year old
swimmers may also be placed in this group. The Blue group practices
1 hour twice weekly after school and on most Saturdays. Attendance
requirement is 65%.

White Group
– This
group is usually comprised of 9 and 10 year old swimmers. The White
group practices 1 ½ hours twice weekly after school and on most
Saturdays. Attendance
requirement is 75%.

Red Group –This
group is usually comprised of swimmers between 9 and 12 years of
age. The Red group practices 1½
hours three days a week and on most Saturdays. Attendance is 80 -
85%.

Silver Group – This
group is usually comprised of swimmers between 12 and 14 years of age.
Swimmers must have maintained a suitable level of conditioning to
enter the Silver group. This
group practices for 2 hours three times a week before school and most
Saturdays. Attendance
requirement is 80 – 85%.

Gold
Group –This
group is usually comprised of 15 and older swimmers. The Gold group
practices 2 hours a day, five days a week before school and on most
Saturdays. Attendance is 90 - 95%.

Junior
/ Senior Group –This
group is usually comprised of 15 and older swimmers. The swimmers
must apply for consideration to become a part of this group and then a
total commitment is expected, without exceptions. The Junior /
Senior group practices 2 hours a day, five days a week before and after
school and on most Saturdays. Attendance is 95 - 100%.
One of the lasting benefits of swimming for the
Hurricane Swim Club is the strong friendships that develop and are maintained
for a lifetime. The commitment and
dedication required to be an HSC swimmer allows athletes to Be the Best They
Can Be in all aspects of their lives.
