On behalf of Louisiana swimming, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on preparing your representative athletes for this competition.  The overall performance in the competitive meet and open water competition was excellent.   Louisiana advanced four places in the final standing, from 12th last season to 8th this year.

You can review the results on the appropriate web site for all the individual performances.  At one final’s session, Louisiana had three straight wins plus several others throughout the course of the competition.  Taking the top ten for finals was an added incentive for the athletes.  In both the Free and Medley relays, all but one scored in each of the finals.

In the open water swims, 1 km, 3 km, 5 km, a first for Louisiana , certainly tested the athletes both mentally and physically after five days of pool competition.  I felt overall we could have done better.  We had several of the swimmers fall within the top 10.

The captains did a good job in getting the group ready for the spirit award competition, which I thought we should have won. The cheering and supporting each of the athletes, both before and during their swims, certainly added to the individual’s motivation.

Enough cannot be said for the parents who attended the meets and did a great job in monitoring, purchasing various food items, ice, you name it, which saved the coaches from doing menial tasks and allowing them to concentrate on the swimmers.

Finally, I would especially like to compliment the coaches who did a super job in all aspects of the selection, planning, and implementation.  The overall coordination from start to finish made the meet a great success. On behalf of the LSI, Hat’s Off to Courtney, Sarah, Kier, Robby, Matt and all the Parent’s FOR A JOB WELL DONE.

Thanks,

Ed Kelly

Chairman, LA Swimming
